Our development philosophy
Undercurrent is a psychological sci-fi horror adventure.
It is built around the idea that repeated choices eventually limit us. Its branching dialogue draws on Max Weber’s four types of social action: emotion, tradition or humor, efficiency and principle. As certain responses are chosen more often, others begin to disappear, narrowing what can be said later in the game.
Environmental mechanics echo this through the choice to adapt to the alien terrain or alter it. The art direction reduces architecture and topography to its basic structure, with rules and limits built into space itself.
